For The Kids Who Need Our Help

As you all know, this blog and it’s other brothers and sisters are my income. By selecting the correct products to go with my articles, you have kindly bought lot of them and made my life better; at the same time, I trust I have done the same for you.

Now I would like to make life better for a group, who are have problems, not of their own making.

They are the kids who have cancer or leukaemia. CLIC (The Cancer and Leukaemia in Childhood Trust) was founded in 1976 in theSouth West of England by Bob Woodward, a friend of Maggie my wife and myself, and a Bristol builder just like my Dad.This was following the death of his young son Robert to cancer. He found that many parents whose child was being treated for either cancer or leukaemia, had nowhere to stay, and in cases were sleeping in hospital corridors. Bob set up the first Home from Home, which allowed the parents to stay in custom designed flats, close to the hospital, for no charge whatsoever. Fromhere CLIC set up more of these both here in the UK and in Europe, linked in with an expanding research team to look into the causes of these awful diseases, and to find a cure or cures. In 2001 the £1 million CLIC ward opened at Bristol Children’s Hospital . From a 70% death rate in 1976, that has now fallen to under 30%.Last year Bob retired from full time fund raising having hit over £100 million and helping to save 100’s if not 1000′s of young lives.

Sargent Cancer Care for Children was founded in 1968 by Sylvia Darley OBE as a lasting memory to the late Sir Malcolm Sargent. In 1975 Sargent funds first Sargent Care Professional at Alder Hey Hospital, Liverpool . Then in1994 Sargent developed work with young people and the first teenage group stays at Malcolm Sargent House.

And then CLIC Sargent was formed in 2005 after a successful merger between CLIC and Sargent Cancer Care for Children.

From there on :-

2005 – Spends £8.2 million on Services as CLIC Sargent
2008 – HBOS raises 2 million for CLIC Sargent as its charity of the year corporate partnership
2009 – CLIC Sargent opens Billy’s House – our Nottingham Home from Home
2010 – CLIC Sargent is the official charity for the Virgin London Marathon, the Tesco charity of the year partnership is launched and our first London Home from Home is opened called Paul’s House
2011 – CLIC Sargent launches the Northern Ireland Home from Home Appeal for parent and family accommodation in Belfast

Now it’s Pete Wells Online and it’s thousands of readers to do our bit. I’m not asking you to put your hand in your pocket and donate. You have already done that by purchasing products.

Quite simply from now on for every product bought on any of my blogs, I will donate 10% of the profit to CLIC Sargent. Once we have this running I will then look at ways of donating to similar Children Cancer Charities elsewhere in the world.

In the words of Bob Woodward “You have to start somewhere”, and CLIC Sargent is our starting point.

I seriously knew about almost all of this, but with that in mind, I still thought it was useful. Excellent work!
